shiori ningyo

Another bookmark doll, this time much larger.
I am hoping that you can see in this photo that this is a kickstand card, which is to say, the background doesn't go all the way down - only the bottom of the kimono is holding the front of the card up.  The top of the doll is glued in place on the gold background.  the white you see is on the inside of the card.

Why?  Because the card base is cut from 8.5 x 11 inch cardstock.  when I completed the doll, I realized she would need a 7 inch tall card, and it occurred to me that there different ways to achieve that goal.  I cut the base as a 3.25 wide strip, and scored it at 4 inches for the front, and 7 inches for the back.

Anyway, I didn't intend to make such a big doll, but scrapbook paper can be heavy for this.  Washi or origami paper would have been better.

I made this for the Gingersnap Creations geisha challenge (and check out Petra's super cute shiori ningyo!), but am also entering into the following challenges:

Critter Sketch Challenge - fancy folds
Karen's Doodles - fancy and feminine
Stamping Vacation - playing dress up
Sir Stampalot - ladies and fashion
