Fabric book, second week

We only worked on this one page this week, page eight, a pocket with a tag. I did it wrong, I can see that now. There are some things I did wrong on purpose, like folding the raw edges in on the tag, instead of just sewing it flat, but other things - the pocket is not supposed to look appliqued in place, it should be sewn along the edges of the page so that it looks like part of the page when the book is complete. It will be all right, I'm sure.

When Ali told us this was page eight, I was confused, until I remembered that she said that pages five and six comprised the centerfold. I believe that the page we did last week was page ten, with a window cut into page one.

I don't know that the stamped words add anything to the page, but I bought it for a dollar last week at Tuesday moring, and I wanted to use it. It is dangerous to be an art project within arm's reach when I want to play with a new toy.

Now for something completely different

This is my last card for today, I promise. The husband is out of town, and I have been indulging myself.

This is the layout challenge from CPS, the color challenge from GingerSnap, and the ingredient challenge from Belli. That's enough challenge for one card.

White space

After the last challenge I did, I needed something completely different. This sketch, from 365 Cards, requires a large expanse of unadorned white space.

I love how clean this looks.

Busy busy

I have been busy making cards today, and this is a very busy card, with all these papers. The sketch is off a blog I just found, Crafty Pad:

Whew! That is a lot of layers for me, but still, it is a nice, flat card.

Powerpunch

This is an awesome tool; I can't believe I never heard of it before now. I spent a shameful amount of time putting holes in paper.

This is done on glimmer paper from the PaperTemptress, of course. It was starting to look very boxy, so I used the Out of the Box technique on the lady. I will need to practice holding my paper still while punching, but pressing the button on those punches just got very easy. If you have button punches but avoid using them because it is so hard to press them, you have to have a Powerpunch.

Again with the colorblocking

I tried a little harder to stay with the Get Sketchy challenge than with my previous card, but I don't think the card is quite as cute. The only stamping here is the word, which I put together with an alpha stamp set that I picked up at the dollar store.

Stop!

There is a little voice inside my head that makes me want to stop. I will get started on a card, and have a very luxurious, heavily embellished idea that I want to explore, and once I am underway, I will suddenly get it into my head that I want to stop. Take, for example, this card:

This was supposed to be the Get Sketchy challenge, but my color blocks didn't want to be the size of the color blocks in the sketch, so I made them to fit my design, and then I just stopped. I couldn't see anything else that I could do that would make the card better. It looked fine as it was, to me, anyway. I love this paper - it doesn't need anything else to make it pop.

So, this card is done. It will not win any prizes, but it will be nice for someone for Christmas, I think.
