Olive branch

The dove in the nordic noel stamp set by a•muse studio does not have a branch in its beak, which is fine; most doves don't fly around with branches of any type unless they are building nests.  However, I think that when you are doing a card with a religious message, you really need the olive branch.

The linen texture to the dove is achieved by using a bold image stamp on textured cardstock.  I love how it looks when it is embossed.  I drew in the olive branch with a pencil.  I know, those diecut branches are not olive branches; I think they are marigolds, really, but if I didn't point it out, how many of you would have noticed?

Lovely card, Juliet!

Thank you for stopping by my blog! To answer your question about stamping with paint:

I usually spread the paint VERY thinly, using piece of cardboard or paper out of the trash or recycling that's been folded up several times. Usually just on a piece of paper or my workmat, but if you're planning on doing lots of stamping with it, a foam produce tray, foam plate, or coated paper plate will work better, as the paint won't dry as quickly.

Okay, yes, a brayer would work better for spreading the paint, but usually I don't bother, because it's one more thing to wash!

And then stamp into the paint, and onto the surface, but don't press too hard, or the stamp will smear. I can never get as crisp an image as with ink, but I like the look.

Wash your stamp right away--the paint will still rub off after it dries, so no big deal.

Love the texture of the dove on the textured cardstock. I like the drawn on and faux Olive branches- and no- I would guess the leaves are meant to be like Olive branches- so would not have looked any closer.....
