Rose fairy ribbon doll

I have been admiring the ribbon dolls at Ten Two Studios, but never really wanted to make one just like Lisa's, and didn't have another body that I wanted to use.  However, I felt very enabled to create my own doll body after reading Collage Couture  by Julie Nutting, and I had some roses that I thought would be perfect on her outfit, so I went to work.
The Rose Surround is one of my favorite rose stamp sets, because it is designed specifically to accent other images, and it is very easy to cut out.  It was a little fidgety trying to get the pinks right - I ended up painting the roses and the dress with metallic shimmer paint.  The wings are from this butterfly, which I embossed with vintage lavender tinsel embossing powder (my friends wondered when I bought it what I was going to use it for, but this is the second time in as many months that it has been the perfect shade and texture for what I wanted to do) onto heavy vellum.  The ribbons are an assortment from my ridiculously large collection.  I did add a ribbon to the head for hanging, but because it is fairly light and flat, it hangs just as well with a glue dot:
I will be mailing this to another lady in my altereddesigns group, as I made it for the torso mingle.  It figures that I couldn't limit myself to just a torso.

Challenges:

Love you!

I still had my pink crepe paper out from the rosettes I made last week, so when I saw the caardvarks sketch challenge, I knew I wanted to use it. the little girl is from Ten Two studios, and after looking for a tiny sentiment that would fit on this ATC, I decided my penmanship was good enough.

12 tags of Christmas - day 12

I never did finish the Tim Holtz series, so I thought I'd better get on it. Tim's last tag had two giant roses on it, but I had already switched the flowers on tag 11 to roses, so I thought I would do flowers with pictures in them for tag 12.

The images are from Lisa Volrath, her anniversay collage sheet. the crepe paper rosette idea is hers, too, from The Monthly Muse. This tag was fun to make, once I committed to doing it. Now, to photograph the whole lot of twelve and email them to Tim...

circular art flow

You may recall that Lisa Vollrath's Ten Two Studios celebrated their 4th anniversary, and that she sold a collage sheet to celebrate, and invited her fans to create art with it. You may also recall that I accepted that challenge, and made a card. Lisa, in turn, not only posted all the art samples she received on her site, but created a second set of collage images by selecting a square portion of each artist's submission and offering them as a collection of 3 inch square collages. Those of us who contributed to the collect were given the privelege of downloading the collage images for free. Of course, once i had them, I had to do something with them, so I made this little book. I don't feel up to scanning all twenty pages, but here is a little peek:

The pages are pretty much as they were on the collage sheets, except for my glitter (doesn't show here) and my words, all cut out of magazines and boxes that were within my reach. It is interesting to cut out random words and glue them down, and then read what you've created - it's like taking a rorshach test.

Happy Anniversary!

I'm guessing that most of you know about Lisa Vollrath and Ten Two Studios - she sells a lot of goodies for collage and altered art projects, and her other site, Go Make Something, has lots of tutorials and inspiration. I feel like she has given a lot to the papercrafting community, so when she offered up a challenge for the 4th anniversary of her commercial site, I felt the need to play along. The papers and brass charm are goodies my friend Chris gave me.
