I have always been a big fan of Gingersnap Creations as a challenge blog, because they seem to encourage an artsier, edgier type of papercrafting. They encourage something beyond the normal coloring and layering, and reward people for taking chances. I've had a few people comment to me that they were surprised when they finally won the coveted Ginger Gem badge, because it was for something far outside their comfort zone. I know it was the case when I won for this ATC:
It was my first (and last) time playing with the faux rust technique, and I was fairly new to inchies, then, too. It isn't colorful or sparkly or cute or fussy; It was very validating to see it accepted as art.
So, thank you, Gingers, for letting me play along - I'm looking forward to a fun month!
